Puppycut love

Taffy's first cut.  Love the rich red color.  A lot of fur came off and she no longer looks like a dust mop.

You are my sunshine

After having to leave Sugar at the Kennels, I am thankful that Taffy is mine.  She will always be mine.

Sugar is sweet and so are you.

The lively, extrovert, confident Sugar is no longer in our care.  She went back to Colette and now the decision is whether Joya will take her for another litter or two OR if Sugar will be spayed and then sold to a forever home.  She was born in our home in Coalhurst, has moved with us, had her puppies with us and lived with us for almost 2 years.

Tonight our house is quiet.  The dogs are sleeping on the recliners and no one is around to stir them up and get them into motion,  Hope we made the right decision.  I miss you my Sugar.

new lady to join the girls

Ashia joined my girls on October 19th 2012.  She is 3 years old and has had 2 litters  She is shy and skittish.  Hope she soon feels at home here.

Choco leaves us

Not only did Choco leave us but Ashia has joined us.  She is so frightened.  This is her first  time to leave the Kennels in 3 years.  She is 3 years old.  Now I need to win her over to my heart.

Taffy's antics

Sugar's turn

We no longer got cleaned up after the farewell of Pippin when Sugar went in to labor about 10:30ish on the 25th.  First baby was born at 12:30 and the rest followed until about 3:30.  3 boys and 3 girls.  I am feeling more confidant about the whole process.  I wasn't ready because Sugar was 2 days early.  I am ecstatic about there being 6 babies.

They all look so similar that i can't name them yet.  Sugar is a trooper.  She has them clean and she guards them with peace.  Maternal pride and instinct is so interesting

the last one to go

These happy excited kids took Pippin to their home in Spokane.  Pippin was the last of Coco's litter to be rehomed.  I got to know him because he stayed with us for 10 weeks and was Taffy's buddy.  Feel the loss.  He will be loved and cared for.

A long tale

Little Boy was the last and most in demand puppy to go.  He sold on Aug13 to a family from Airdrie. 
That day I had about 10 emails and phone calls for this pup.  The first couple, Ty and TIng were coming at 6:30 to buy him.  They wanted a white , male puppy born on June 14. (Ty's B-Day).  So they got our address and headed out.  They never did find#22 Hiway, so kept going to Morley, almost to Canmore.  Coming back, they finally got to Sunset Ridge, went to 265 Sunset Circle and waited there hoping the residents would soon come home.  Meanwhile I had to allow #2 on the waiting list to come and see the puppy and they bought it outright.  $700 in 20's.

Dog goners

This past week  I sold Rummy and Chai to the Keller family.  Then Deb and Kaytie came for a visit and claimed Eclaire.  I am feeling the loss of my precious babies.  That leaves savory.

I love this pose when the babies line up for lunch.  Always, Eclaire's bright eyes catch my attention.  You can see Taffy in the background.  She hasn't learned this protocol yet. I'll give her until tomorrow.

The winner is...

The puppies went to see Colette for their assessment.   They all passed with flying colors   The pick of the crop was Eclaire.

Taffy arrives

I knew a baby girl puppy was coming my way soon.  Today I met her and brought her home.  She spent the trip home by sleeping on my shoulder. Then she got car sick and puked down my neck.  She is tired and resting tonight.  Hope Coco doesn't mind an extra sucker.  I think I will call her Taffy

PIppin's adventure

I must tell you about Pippin.  I heard this crying and checked the kennel.  Everything seemed fine.  The crying was coming from Pippin.  I walked away and it got worse so I went back and on impulse I lifted him up.  He was stuck.  He got his little head into the frayed string of the blanket and was choking himself.  Needless to say the blankets are no longer in use   I am thankful for the sixth sense.

5 week old dilemma

OH my goodness, how can I get them all sorted out?  Notice Chai had to take a dive from the top.  Silly boy.  Real food VS. the "real thing"

My Rummy boy

Let me tell you about Rummy.  When the litter is sleeping facing west, he is sleeping alone in some corner facing east.  He will be the last to the party and wonder what is going on or wonder why nobody told him about it.

My Sweetheart

I think by now everyone knows who my sweetheart is.  She just had a bath and looks so white and pure.

Short nose

I'd say this is a puppy with a short nose.  Darn cute

They don't get any cuter

Eclaire, as named by Claire, is the sweetest of the litter.  She snuggles right in and has the cutest face.  She actually waits by the gate for attention.

Baggy lady

I will always remember the hilarious sight of Coco heading for the great outdoors as she trots thru the front door, down the steps and up the sidewalk away from me as i tried to catch her.  I was barefoot, and trying to be nice as I followed and called her back.  She trots on with a mission to get away from her brood and me.  Her nipples are full of milk and they sway along on this purposeful venture.  Bob finally drove up to her in the car and she responded to his call.

A stretch for fit

Dear Coco birthed 6 puppies on June 14 2012.  2 girls and 4 boys: Millie, Golden Boy or Pippin, Eclaire, LIttle Boy, Chai, and Rummy came the next day.  She is hardly big enough to feed all 6.  she eats at least 3 bowls of food a day to keep up.  I'm so thankful that she did so well and is a good Mama.  She also likes to be with me and we had some rough days where she wanted her freedom.  i had to detach and let her care for her pups to the point of making her stay in the kennel most of the time.   Soon, dear Coco, you will be back to normal.

Belinda is done with babies.  She has given me 8 wonderful puppies:  Coco, Sugar, Jellybean, Saffron, Caramel, Hickory, Licorice and Kyomi.

Rest in peace dear girl.

Sugar is home for a visit

Sugar came home from the kennel to spend a week with us whilst Coco and Paprika get bred. Emmeline squealed with delight when she saw Sugar in the car. Sugar is so lovely, I wish I had never taken her back to Colette.

What's with the pink stuff?

We walked the neighborhood with a brown dog wearing a red collar, black leash, green tag, zip-lock bags and no harness. We noticed how other dogs were dressed. Nana went shopping. for pink stuff. What did we miss? Today, the neighborhood dogs are wearing orange snow boots. Grrrrrr

Paprika to come home

Exciting news. Paprika is due to be bred at the end of Feb and she may be coming home to me for her puppies to be born.  Sad news, Paprika isn't coming.  She was difficult to breed and had a puppy with a heart defect last litter, so C. thought it better to leave her at the kennel.  She will be spayed and sold.  Dear beautiful;l Paprika.  My first dog from Pooch Palace.

Coco is one year old today. Maybe I'll give her a new name..."Cayenne"

Paprika's baby boy

Paprika had her first litter on Oct 27/11. 7 of them. 2 didn't make it and one has a heart murmur. So no more Baxter for her. But the remaining brown babies are so cute. Paprika was my first puppy from Colette to see if I liked breeding, so she is special to me.
